The Sensex ended the day up 48.61 points at 18758.63 while the Nifty closed the day up 13.90 points at 5705.30.
The top five Nifty gainers were M&M, IDFC, HDFC, Hero MotoCorp and GAIL while the top five losers were Dr.Reddy's Labs, Ranbaxy, SBI, Punjab National Bank and Reliance Infrastructure.
