The benchmark indices the Sensex and the Nifty nosedive 162 and 52 points respectively. The Sensex closed at 18683.68 down 162.58 points and the Nifty closed at 5686.25 down 52.50 points.
The Sensex top five gainers were Maruti, Cipla, ITC, Jindal Steel and HDFC Bank while the top five losers were SBI, Tata Steel, ONGC, Sterlite and BHEL.
